Agent Orange strain

Agent Orange is a citrus hybrid of Orange Velvet and Jack the Ripper, bred by MzJill at TGA Genetics, the US seed company she co-founded with Subcool in 2003.1,2,3 It tests at a median total THC of 12.80% across 140 state lab tests of Agent Orange flower, with the middle half of results between 11.05% and 14.30%, but 118 of those tests are Maryland flower, where the labs in our sample reported low values for this strain (see potency).4 None of the tests reports individual terpenes, so this guide shows no terpene profile; Leafly users most often report orange and citrus flavors and uplifted, happy and focused effects.3,4

Quick answers

Is Agent Orange indica or sativa?

A hybrid. Leafly files it as a hybrid and rates it mostly energizing; the TGA-era breeder description and Philosopher Seeds call it 50/50; AllBud lists 75% sativa; and MzJill’s own F2 and S1 seed pages describe “indica effects, strong and heavy”. Its father, Jack the Ripper, is a sativa on Leafly, and its mother, Orange Velvet, descends from Skunk #1.1,3,5,6,7,11,12

How strong is Agent Orange?

Lower than its reputation, in our data: the median total THC across 140 state lab tests was 12.80%, 90% of results fell below 15.68%, and none reached 25%. 118 of the tests (84.3%) are Maryland flower, where the labs in our sample reported low values for this strain.4 Databases publish more: Leafly 17%, Weedmaps 16–23%, AllBud 25%.3,7,8

What are Agent Orange’s parents?

Orange Velvet × Jack the Ripper, as MzJill, Leafly, Weedmaps and SeedFinder write it. AllBud and Wikileaf write the same cross one generation back, Orange Skunk × Jack’s Cleaner × Space Queen: Leafly lists Jack the Ripper as Jack’s Cleaner × Space Queen and Skunk #1 as Orange Velvet’s parent.1,3,5,7,8,11,12,13

What does Agent Orange taste like?

Orange first. On Weedmaps, 53% of flavor reports say orange and 47% citrus; Leafly users list orange, citrus and sweet. MzJill describes tart orange rind and sour lemon with an Orange Creamsicle finish, and the TGA-era description compares the smell to a whiskey sour.1,3,5,8

Why is the strain called Agent Orange?

MzJill, who bred it, says she named it in honor of her father, a US Army Green Beret who served in Vietnam and was exposed to the herbicide of that name, and that proceeds from the strain support veterans’ causes. That is the breeder’s account; the databases say nothing about the name beyond AllBud’s aside that this is “not the Vietnam-era pesticide”.2,7,14

How long does Agent Orange take to flower?

About 55–65 days for the seed versions, per the TGA-era description, Philosopher Seeds and Weedmaps; Leafly gives 55 days, and a 2017 Oregon clone catalogue listed 8–9 weeks. Growers are told to expect a tall plant whose yield arrives in the last weeks.3,5,6,8,15

Cup placings, not sales charts

Agent Orange’s record is competition placings and a loyal following rather than sales charts. SeedFinder records a third place in the sativa category at the IC 420 Growers Cup in 2012 and again in 2013, and a seventh place at the Karma Cup in 2014.5 Its Leafly page has 1,213 user ratings averaging 4.1, AllBud’s 65 votes average 4.4, and AllBud says it is most popular in Michigan and the Pacific Northwest.3,7

It does not appear in the sales rankings we checked: Leafly’s best-selling strains of 2025 or The Marijuana Herald’s September 2026 list of the top seller in each adult-use state.16,17 On Oct 3, 2026, Weedmaps showed Agent Orange flower at 85 store listings in 9 of 27 US markets, 59 of them within 50 miles of Los Angeles.18
